Cervical biopsy device
Project Overview
After an abnormal PAP smear, patients receive a cervical biopsy. This procedure is done before a surgical treatment is considered. A better cervical biopsy tool is needed to perform the procedure. The texture and mobility of the cervix presents a challenge in acquiring a sufficient amount of sample. In addition, a factor such as difficulty in getting a proper instrument angle further burdens the process. The proposed device should be disposable biopsy device. It might be similar to a punch biopsy device used for skin procedures.
