Project Overview

Tracheal collapse is a relatively common problem in small breed dogs such as the Yorkshire terrier, poodle, and Maltese. Typically this condition is treated surgically with either an intraluminal or extraluminal stent. However, each design has associated complications.Intraluminal stents can fail from inappropriate sizing, misplacement and fracture. In comparison, extraluminal stents can cause inflammation, bleeding from the suture and nerve damage to the larynx.Our device will provide safer treatment for tracheal collapse in dogs that combines the advantages of both stent designs and avoid each one's respective complications.
