Expandable nasogastric tube
Project Overview
Our client, Dr. Steven Yale of the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation, would like our team to design a nasogastric tube, which will expand from a 3mm diameter to a 6mm diameter after it has been placed within the patient. This expansion will greatly reduce the patient’s discomfort upon insertion. It will also help reduce the risk of the nasogastric tube being placed in the trachea, which can cause complications such as pneumonia. Our device needs to be accurate, reliable, and easy to use.
