Project Overview
Atrial Fibrillation (Afib) is a common, vastly under diagnosed heart condition. Afib is an irregular heartbeat or arrhythmia that can lead to increased risk of ischemic stroke, heart failure and fainting. Afib currently has to be diagnosed by either a telemetry strip, an EKG, or a smartphone application. Afib can also be diagnosed clinically by detecting an irregular pulse in some cases. All the technology based methods are expensive and take time to perform and interpret the results. The goal of this design project is to fabricate an Afib Screener that is inexpensive, portable, user-friendly and can accurately screen for Afib.
