Project Overview
A hand tool is desired that will allow the clinician to screw threaded prosthetic components (abutments and magnetic caps) onto osseointegrated (bone-anchored) fixtures that have been surgically installed to support magnetic craniofacial prostheses such as silicone eye, nose or ear prosthetics. The tiny abutments that screw into the fixtures are very difficult to hold and get started in the tight confines of the orbital or nasal cavity and nearly impossible if the clinician has large fingers. A lower profile tool is needed to temporarily hold and spin the abutments and caps inside the cavity to get them started by means of some rotational force transferred down the handle from outside the cavity.
