Boston Scientific: Embolic Protection Testing
This project has been secured to protect intellectual property.
Login for More InformationThe goal of this project is to develop an anatomically correct testing system for an embolic protection capture device that is used during a trans-aortic valve replacement.
Project Overview
When patients get trans-aortic valve replacements (TAVR procedures), emboli (free-floating objects) are often produced when valve calcification is broken up. These emboli can cause stroke by traveling into the carotid and left subclavian arteries. The team is tasked with creating an anatomically correct testing system that can be used by Boston Scientific when testing their next generation of the Sentinel embolic protection capture device.
