Project Overview
Produce a functional delivery system prototype suitable for spraying a liquid medical device in laparoscopic or open system applications. Using a surrogate liquid (water or solvent-suspended polymer solution) the team will be challenged to research, design, and develop a novel delivery system that meets the following criteria:
- Deliver the solution through the provided catheter (or other catheter/tube of similar length and French-size) suitable for laparoscopic applications, as well as, other delivery tips for open surgical cases.
- Deliver the solution in a controlled mechanism such that the end user can tune the amount of material provided or target a specific area.
- Design a device comprised of single-use components, in whole or in part and provide a cost analysis of the end product and consumables.
- Provide recommendations and rationale for biocompatibility of wetted materials in the delivery system.
- Provide recommendations and rationale for relevant user risks in final design.
