Project Overview
To address the high prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, a condition that plagues nearly 90% of sonographers, our team will develop RASA to alleviate the demanding physical requirements of ultrasonography, improve non-ergonomic conditions, and allow sonographers to perform their duties more sustainably. The device will assist in ultrasound procedures by being able to move along a 180° arc and apply up to 20 pounds of force through an ultrasound transducer to obtain clear images from a variety of angles. The main focus of this semester is increasing the range of motion of the system to allow for scans of any part of the abdomen. These design specifications will reduce strain on sonographers' shoulders and wrists while still maintaining quality patient care.
