Project Overview
When a fetal head is impacted, it cannot be delivered by normal methods during cesarean section because it is lodged deep within the pelvis. This can cause serious harm to the birthing parent and baby during birth because it may lead to uterine bleeding. Our group aims to develop a fetal head cap that fits around the skull and contains handles that are reachable from the abdominal incision. These handles will allow for better traction for physicians to disimpact the fetal head during delivery. This device will prevent trauma to the fetal head and will prevent tears in the uterus that can cause life-threatening hemorrhaging to mothers.
